Dr Katrina Rowan

Clinical Director - Monash IVF Sydney CBD

Dr Katrina Rowan is a Specialist in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI) with consulting rooms in the heart of Sydney's CBD.

Originally from Melbourne, Katrina gained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with honours from Monash University. She then went on to train in Gynaecology and Surgery at the Royal Women's and Mercy Hospitals in Melbourne and the Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney.

Katrina has a Certificate in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI) which is the highest recognised qualification for fertility specialists in Australia & New Zealand. A CREI qualification involves an extra three years of training and passing examinations requiring an in depth knowledge of a wide range of areas related to infertility, such as endocrine disorders, male infertility and urology, reproductive surgery, genetics, embryology, statistics and epidemiology, and adolescent reproductive system disorders.

Katrina also holds a Masters in Reproductive Medicine from the University of New South Wales. Her expertise qualifies her to be an examiner for gynaecologists looking to attain a CREI qualification whilst also being a board member on the Australian and New Zealand society for CREI sub specialists. She likes to continue to use her broad knowledge of fertility medicine to treat all aspects of infertility including male infertility, ovulation disorders/PCOS, endometriosis, egg and sperm donation, surrogacy, miscarriage, and helping couples known to be carriers of recessive genetic disorders. Dr Rowan provides a welcome and safe space for members of the LGBTQI+ community.

Katrina has a thorough and caring approach to work. Her belief is that there is no "one size fits all" way of addressing a patient's fertility. Katrina truly takes the time to understand each individual circumstance and what treatments may suit their particular situation. For this reason she is frequently relied upon for a second opinion when fertility patients have been unsuccessful.

Katrina is often described as very kind and warm-hearted. These attributes, along with her comprehensive approach provide a supportive and informative experience for each patient. She understands how overwhelming fertility information can be. Katrina prides herself in her ability to guide and educate her patients. With her support, patients feel comfortable and deepen their understanding of their own unique fertility situation.
