Meet Sunthra

Clinical Director – Monash IVF Cairns

Dr Sunthra Lingam is a Gynaecologist, Fertility Specialist and the Clinical Director of Monash IVF in Cairns.

Dr Lingam obtained his medical degree (MBBS) and postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (MOG) in Malaysia. He subsequently went on to achieve his Master of Reproductive Medicine (MRepMed) and Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) in Australia.

His expertise covers all areas of fertility, including gynaecological imaging, complex infertility cases, male infertility, laparascopic surgery for conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids, and ovarian cysts.

He has firsthand experience with IVF as his wife and him required fertility treatment when trying to conceive. Having been a patient himself, he has an in-depth understanding of the challenges of fertility treatment, he recognises the emotional rollercoaster that fertility treatment can be and is caring and empathetic with his patients.

Dr Lingam always takes a personalised approach as he believes every patient or couple’s situation is different, requiring a unique course of treatment. In addition to his role at Monash IVF, Dr Lingam is also a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) in O&G at Cairns Hospital.

Dr Lingam has been working in Fertility, serving the Far North Queensland community for over 15 years.
