Meet Nerida

Dr. Nerida Flannery is a Sunshine Coast obstetrician, gynaecologist and fertility specialist.

Before setting up her private practice, Nerida held senior obstetrics and gynaecology roles at the Buderim Private Hospital and Nambour General Hospital, and worked as a Senior Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Redcliffe Hospital. She also spent a year as an obstetrics and gynaecology registrar at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where she gained experience in high-risk obstetric medicine, urogynecology, adolescent gynaecology and gynae-oncology.

Nerida has extensive clinical experience in emergency and elective gynaecological surgery and care of inpatient and outpatient obstetric and gynaecological patients.

Nerida brings knowledge, passion and enthusiasm to her practice. As an experienced clinician and mother of two small children, she offers high-quality care and genuine empathy to new families and parents-to-be. She puts her patients at ease through open and clear communication. She also provides candid information to help women understand and actively participate in their health and wellbeing.

Nerida made the decision to specialise in obstetrics and gynaecology during the early years of her career. Raised in Mount Isa, she won a Queensland Health Rural Scholarship to assist with her studies, and completed her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery at the University of Queensland in Brisbane in 2002. A strong interest in infertility and reproductive medicine led her to complete her Master’s Degree in recent years.

Nerida has lived, studied and worked on the Sunshine Coast over the past decade. She loves her work and is committed to providing the best possible care for each of her patients.

Dr. Flannery believes that her role is to help you achieve a healthy pregnancy that offers the best possible outcomes for mother and baby. She takes a flexible approach that respects individual choices and responds to the needs of each woman, family and pregnancy. Nobody is born an expert on pregnancy and childbirth, so you are encouraged to ask questions and get the information that you need to make informed decisions.
