Dr Gia Barbarich
Dr Barbarich was born in South Africa and has spent most of her life in Perth, Western Australia. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Health Science, followed by a postgraduate year in Exercise Rehabilitation at UWA, building a strong foundation in health, fitness, and preventative care. She then pursued her medical degree, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Western Australia.
Dr Barbarich undertook her junior doctor training at Fremantle Hospital, where she gained broad experience across a range of medical specialties. During this time, she developed a strong appreciation for the diversity and continuity of care offered by general practice. She went on to achieve Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2015 and has since been working as a General Practitioner.
Her clinical work has a strong focus on women’s health, which has naturally led to a keen interest in fertility care. She is passionate about supporting women and their partners throughout their fertility journey, providing compassionate, evidence-based care.
In her role, Dr Barbarich offers fertility health checks, initial fertility assessments, and tailored lifestyle support, including weight management, smoking cessation, and alcohol reduction, to optimise reproductive health outcomes. She combines this with her ongoing work in general practice, allowing her to maintain a broad and varied clinical scope.
Dr Barbarich values a patient-centred, collaborative approach, with an emphasis on clear communication and continuity of care from initial consultation through to ongoing management.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her two young children and travelling.
