Longstanding Monash IVF Mildura fertility specialist, Dr Kimberley Sleeman, recently hosted a party to celebrate 10 years of supporting local families.
IVF families from across Sunraysia gathered in Mildura to mark the special occasion and reflect on a decade of IVF memories and advances.
Dr Sleeman said Monash IVF scientists, nurses and support staff had helped her look after hundreds of patients over the past 10 years, performing almost 1000 IVF cycles.
“We couldn’t let our 10th anniversary go by without a party and it wouldn’t be a party without our patients and their children,” Dr Sleeman said.
“It was wonderful opportunity to celebrate our IVF families and the team’s contribution to the local community.
“It’s so exciting to bring together some of those who have helped shape Monash IVF Mildura over the past decade - I can’t recall a bigger IVF celebration in Mildura!”
Since 2014, Monash IVF’s Mildura clinic has supported patients from north-west Victoria and parts of regional NSW and South Australia to access world-leading fertility treatment. The fertility provider uses state-of-the-art facilities at Mildura Health Private Hospital, which were upgraded as part of the hospital’s operating theatre refurbishment works two years ago.
An experienced gynaecologist, obstetrician and fertility specialist, Dr Sleeman has dedicated almost two decades to women’s healthcare through her private practice, O&G Mildura and her partnership with Monash IVF.
“I’m proud to have helped deliver a generation of babies into the world and to support those who need medical assistance to conceive, including heterosexual couples, single women and same sex couples.
“Some of our IVF families now have school-aged children, while others have newborns. Each family has had a unique journey to parenthood and it hasn’t always been easy for them. There is nothing more precious to me than being part of their journey and providing personalised care, regardless of the outcome.
“It will be great to catch-up, celebrate and reflect on 10 incredible years of science together.”
Angela and Shane O’Bryan, parents of two sets of twins and a teenage daughter born via IVF, shared their gratitude for the local service.
"We feel extremely lucky to have had our children through a local IVF clinic. Families from Mildura and surrounding areas continue to receive fertility treatment close to home without the added stress of traveling to a capital city."
Mildura Health Private Hospital CEO Marcus Guthrie highlighted the significant impact of the IVF service. “The difference the IVF service has made to families in the region for many years cannot be underestimated,” Mr Guthrie said.
