Three Dimensional Ultrasounds to Investigate the Uterine Lining

Three dimensional ultrasound of the junctional zone in myometrial pathology and their correlation with pregnancy rates

During implantation and early pregnancy, the lining of the uterus (called the endometrium), and the various cellular layers underneath it, undergo specialised remodelling as the embryo implants and the pregnancy progresses. An inability of these layers to undergo this remodelling can reduce the ability of a woman to fall pregnant and can also reduce the chance of a pregnancy continuing.

Our scientists are applying new 3D ultrasound approaches to the study of uterus before and during pregnancy. The project will use this technology to investigate uterine abnormalities and correlate them with pregnancy success rates.

Recruitment for this clinical trial is ongoing, and is available for patients at Clayton and Richmond clinics.
