Also practises general Gynaecology

Dr Sonya Jessup started working with the Monash IVF Group in November 2019. A graduate of The Auckland University School of Medicine, Dr Sonya Jessup obtained her Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne. Sonya followed on with three years of CREI training before completing her Masters in Reproductive Medicine from the University of New South Wales.

Dr Jessup has a keen interest in all aspects of women’s health and treats gynaecological patients from their early teenage years, discussing and maximising their fertility potential to give her patients as many future options as possible. Sonya has worked as a Fertility Specialist for over 15 years at a number of different IVF units across several states which has given her vast experience with the management of thousands of IVF cycles. She shares her experiences with her patients, using a personalised IVF approach to achieve the best outcome for their own set of unique circumstances. Dr Jessup is interested in all new developments that show promise for improved IVF success rates and is happy to discuss these with her patients.

Dr Jessup is a strong believer that fertility options should be available to all individuals, and has a long history of working with same sex couples to achieve the type of family that works best for them using various donor options. She also believes strongly in egg freezing for both medical and elective reasons to allow women to maintain their future options.

Sonya enjoys her fertility work immensely and always strives to give her patients the best possible outcomes for their own individual situations. From patients who have just started a fertility journey to patients who have had a long number of previous unsuccessful IVF cycles, her approach is to gather as much information as possible and put together a plan that takes into account not just the basic fertility parameters, but also which looks more closely at the specific details. She has a specialist interest in women with recurrent implantation failure, and uses a number of surgical, medical and immunological diagnostic tools and treatments to improve pregnancy outcomes.
